Cedar Point is nicknamed the “Roller Coaster Capital of the World” and for good reason. Over 3 million roller coaster enthusiasts make the pilgrimage to the Sandusky theme park each year. The park has been awarded the coveted “Golden Ticket” by Amusement Today 16 consecutive years. With approximately 3.2 million visitors each year, Cedar Point is the most attended seasonal amusement park in the United States (closed during the winter months). So, why is Cedar Point so popular? Well to start, the park has 16 roller coasters which is the 2nd most for any theme park (Six Flags Magic Mountain in California has 19). The theme park not only has quantity, but quality as well. Six of the top 50 steel coasters in world can be found at Cedar Point (Amusement Today) with Millennium Force being recognized as the best. Hopefully you aren’t afraid of heights because Cedar Point is the only amusement park with four roller coasters taller than 200 feet (Magnum XL-200, Millennium Force, Wicked Twister, and Top Thrill Dragster.
