Cornhole Capital of the World

The term for the popular tailgate game changes based on your geographic location. Some call it “Cornhole” while others call it “Baggo” or “Bags”. Whatever you call it, Cincinnati is considered the Cornhole Capital of the World. The game is originally believed to be created in the 14th century by German farmers and involved throwing rocks into a hole in the ground. This was seen as a very dangerous game, so a safer version with corn was adapted. When Germans immigrated to the United States, they brought the game with them. The first modernized Cornhole game popped up on the West side of Cincinnati in the 1990′s. It didn’t take long before the backyard sport became a national craze. Today, the American Cornhole Association and American Cornhole Organization are based in the Cincinnati area. There was also a “Cornhole: the Movie” which was based in the Southwestern Ohio city.
