Sadly, Layla was not written at the German Village Book Loft, but Eric Clapton, one of the greatest guitarists of all time does own a house in the capital city. During a Larry King interview, Clapton mentioned he owns 4 houses in the world, one in England, one in France, one in Antigua, and one in Columbus, Ohio. So how did the British musician end up in the midwestern city? Clapton’s wife, Melia McEnery, was raised in Columbus and is a Bishop Watterson High School Graduate. While Clapton is on tour, Melia and their children spend quality time in Columbus. Clapton has enjoyed living in Columbus and says the city reminds him of his native England. He has also been spotted as a spectator at Columbus Crew “football” games.
