No, Columbus doesn’t have a Major League Baseball franchise, but that doesn’t stop the World Series from coming to the Central Ohio city. From August 17 – August 22, 2015, Columbus will be hosting the Gay Softball World Series. With over 2,700 athletes, 146 teams, from 43 U.S. and Canadian cities, the Gay Softball World Series is the largest annual gay sporting event in the world. The six day event is held at Lou Berliner Sports Park, the largest softball complex in the United States, includes tournaments for 5 divisions (which vary based on competitive level) and a home run derby. It is estimated that the event will generate over $5 million of economic impact for Central Ohio.
