Ohio: The Ice Cream Capital of the U.S.

Washington D.C. is the political capital, New York is the financial capital, but most importantly Ohio is the ice cream capital of the United States. Ohio is home to both Jeni’s and Graeter’s Ice cream which are both perennial contenders to the country’s best ice cream. U.S. News and World Report¬†and Huffington Post have both listed Jeni’s and Graeter’s as a few of the “must try” ice cream brands. Ohio is the only state that hosts two different ice cream brands on both of those lists. Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio and has 15 scoop shop locations in 3 different states (Ohio, Tennessee, and Illinois). Graeter’s is based in Cincinnati and has 34 ice cream parlors in 2 different states (Ohio and Kentucky). While their retail locations are limited, both Jeni’s and Graeter’s brand ice cream can be found in the freezer section of local grocers across the country.

Also, just like Washington D.C. it’s not uncommon for ice cream lovers to receive diplomatic immunity in Ohio… I wish…
