One of the two cities platted by the United States government belongs to Perrysburg (the other being Washington D.C.). After the war of 1812, the government surveyed the land for an establishment in the Northwest Territory. Americans were moving westward and needed a place to settle. While some pioneers continued their voyage west, many stayed in the Ohio city. Today, Perrysburg has a population of over 20,000.
